Newcrest Mining

Newcrest Mining is Australia’s largest gold producer and is commonly listed amongst the world’s top 10 gold mining companies.

Previously, Newcrest's HR department used paperwork for its employee's personal information. In order to keep up-to-date with technology and create a smoother interaction between its employees and the HR department, Newcrest began looking for a new way to input, send and store information e.g. pay, holiday requests, work hours and overtime. It found its answer with interactive touch screen kiosks – a less expensive in the long term, fully interactive and easily updateable digital advertising system.

Newcrest required Easyweb to install four 42 inch self-service laminated touch screen kiosks capable of providing HR access to employees when they need it. The touch screen kiosks also had to be resiliant enough for installation and work within a mining environment.

In addition, Newcrest also required their in-house HR software to be extended for use on the touch screen kiosk. The combined final result creating a HR and information portal available to all parties.

Interactive Touch Screen Kiosk:

Newcrest's four 42 inch interactive touch screen kiosks allows employees access to Newcrest’s online human resources systems, where they can login in to register holiday requests, check pay and overtime and anything else they may need assistance with. Once these details have been entered into the system via the touch screen kiosk, the information is then passed onto their line manager and HR dept. via the company's in-house software.

The installation of the touch screen kiosk means Newcrest has created a smoother operation between its HR department and its employees meaning that there is less paperwork needed and less time is consumed by all parties.
