Secure Technology at our wireless hotspot

WiFi Security Banner

We said we wouldn't get too technical with you but when it comes to the security of your network, and that of your wireless hotspot users, we take things very seriously!

easyweb Wireless Internet Hotspots use the latest security technologies to prevent rogue access to your network and also to islolate all wireless clients connected to the wireless hotspot, preventing them from seeing each others' documents and files.

If you have a few computers at work connected on the same network you will probably be able to browse the network through 'My Network Places', and see the other PCs available. This is great in a controlled environment where it actively increases productivity through the use of network sharing. But on a public wireless hotspot, it's a bad bad thing!

Layer 2 Isolation

Layer 2 isolation effectively prevents laptops connected to the same wireless hotspot from talking to each other. Even if you don't buy one of our wireless hotspots and choose another solution, we urge you to check that it comes equipped with layer 2 isolation available as standard.

For example, John connects to the hotspot and is happily surfing away on the internet. He is not the most savvy of internet users, has never heard of a firewall and the only virus protection he has ever heard of is vitamin C. There are plenty of users out there so rather than rely on them to secure there own computers, we take care of it right from the hotspot.

Private address space blocking

Our wireless hotspots plug straight into your existing ADSL modem router and share the internet connection that your own computers use. There could be a potential breach of security here right? Users of the wireless hotspot connecting to your private network!
Not with easyweb wireless internet hotspots! We use a set of rules at the hotspot that isolates your private network from the public side of the hotspot.

Simply put, users connected to the wireless hotspot cannot type in the address of any of your computers on the private side of the network and connect to them. Wireless hotspot clients can ONLY connect out to the internet! They will not be able to see anything other than what they are allowed to see, and that is web pages from the internet. Again, this a must have feature if you are considering deploying a public wireless internet hotspot solution for your establishment.
